In conjunction with the kickoff of the Archway to Excellence Campaign, the University of Georgia announced three new cumulative giving societies that recognize major donors to The University of Georgia. These giving societies recognize individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations whose cumulative gifts have reached $1 million and above.
The Crystal Arch Society, recognizing gifts of $10 million and above, is named for The University of Georgia's most recognizable symbol and the main entrance to campus, the Arch. Erected in the 1850s, the Arch is UGA's most revered landmark, patterned after the Great Seal of the State of Georgia.
The Abraham Baldwin Society, recognizing gifts of $5 million and above, is named for the legendary Georgia statesman, educator and founder of The University of Georgia. Abraham Baldwin wrote UGA's charter, the first-ever written and adopted for a state-supported public university.
The 1785 Society, recognizing cumulative gifts of $1 million and above, is named for the year that The University of Georgia was chartered by the Georgia General Assembly, pays homage to our impressive history and tradition of achievement as the first state-chartered university in the nation.
The Presidents Club
Named to honor the past leadership of The University of Georgia, the Presidents Club recognizes donors whose annual gifts total $1,000 or more. Annual membership is based on the University's fiscal year (July-June) and is renewable. The Presidents Club has a tiered structure at various giving levels:
Benefactors: Annual gifts of $10,000 and above
Fellows: Annual gifts of $5,000 - $9,999
Partners: Annual gifts of $2,500 and above ($1,000 to Venture Fund)
Associates: Annual gifts of $1,000 - $4,999
Founding members of the Presidents Club have a special lifetime distinction having joined in the first twenty years of the program. These individuals made a $10,000 total commitment and/or purchased a $25,000 life insurance policy naming UGA as the sole beneficiary
The Partners Program An enhanced Presidents Club level, University Partners are individuals whose annual gifts to UGA total $2,500 or greater and support the President's Venture Fund in total or in part. University Partners enjoy a unique flexibility in choosing how their gifts will benefit UGA. All Partners support the Venture Fund with a $1,000 minimum gift which helps meet unbudgeted funding challenges throughout the academic year. Donors may choose to designate the remainder of their gift to the academic area of their choice. (Athletic ticket priority programs are not included.) University of Georgia faculty and staff (current and retired) may join the Partners program at a reduced level or $1,500 in annual support with at least $500 designated to the President's Venture Fund.
The Heritage Society The Heritage Society honors alumni and
friends who have made documented bequests in their wills or other
deferred gifts in support of the University of Georgia. Deferred gifts
may be given by charitable annuities, wills, pooled income funds, life
insurance policies, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts,
retirement plans or real estate gifts with retained life estates.
The Third Pillar A recognition program for donors making gifts in the last three or more consecutive Georgia Fund campaigns.
The Third Pillar takes its name from the University's official symbol, the Arch. The three pillars of the UGA Arch model those on the State of Georgia Seal representing the virtues of Wisdom, Justice and Moderation. It is the Third Pillar-Moderation-which is exhibited by those donors who consistently renew their belief in the University of Georgia through annual gifts. As Georgia Fund Loyalty Donors, you and others have demonstrated an ongoing commitment for support of academic excellence.
