Why did you choose to attend UGA?
I always wanted to go to a large, public university with research opportunities and diverse student body
What is your most memorable UGA experience or memory?
Freshmen year I played a major role in Arab Cultural Association's Arab Night in Atlanta. I was on the financial committee and we were able to raise enough funds to have a famous comedian perform; it brought 800 people in attendance--a full house!
What is your favorite campus setting and why?
Moore College--its a great place to study Memorial Hall Tribal Lounge--firstly, the name just sounds cool, and secondly its a big room with flags of the world hanging from the ceiling. Its a cool atmostphere
What student organizations are you involved in?
Arab Cultural Association Anthropology Society Running Club
What are your career plans/aspirations?
Ultimately I want to end up in a career combining my interests in engaged and collaborative anthropology, distance running, and social entrepreneurship. This will probably take form in creating or working at a non-profit or NGO in East Africa or Australia
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I hope to have completed a Fulbright research project and masters program in anthropology and begin working in my field.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I hope to use my academic training to solve local issues in an engaging manner at the international level.
What message would you like to send to alumni and friends who support UGA financially?
Thank you so much for all you do
Names of scholarship awards you have received?
HISP Foundation Fellowship
What has your scholarship meant or enabled you to do?
I've been able to pursue my interests without want of resources, learning what I do want to do and what I don't want to do. This past summer I was able to study Arabic in Morocco, advancing my skill in the language but also changing my career goal
