It’s Georgia Giving Week! You can make a difference and help build tomorrow today with a gift to the Veterinary Educational Resources Center (ERC). Your gift to the ERC supports valuable educational tools that promote accessibility and understanding.

WHO IS THE ERC?

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine is the only vet school in the country with an in-house team of medical illustrators and creatives. This talented team has expertise in medical illustration, 3D modeling, animation, photography, and videography.

 

WHAT DO THEY DO?

The ERC supports the teaching, research, and service missions of the College and UGA. Tools created by the ERC enhance the learning environment, expand patient care, advance research, and educate local and global partners.

In Athens, the ERC helps vet students master difficult concepts, researchers tackle pressing challenges in animal and human health, and pet owners gain insight on their animal’s condition. Across the globe, the ERC disseminates important health information and resources for communities of all ages.

Thanks to the ERC, veterinary students can interact with dynamic models, an experiential learning opportunity that makes a lasting impact. Outside of the classroom, the ERC has real-world applications for patients and their owners. Surgeons at UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital can use 3D printed bones and images from CT scans of patients to prepare for difficult surgeries.

Publications come alive with innovative visualizations like these in the ePub sponsored by the AAEP Foundation: Diagnostic Analgesia of the Equine Distal Limb.

The ERC and Vet Med faculty have created over 50 interactive Apple Books, which are all available free of charge. To date, there are more than 120,000 downloads in 51 countries across the globe. The ERC even helped limit the spread of Bird Flu in Egypt through creative posters and nearly 1.5 million flyers promoting safe poultry preparation for families!
