The department of regional programs supports and manages the volunteers of the Association's chapters and clubs, operates Alumni Tours, hosts the annual Alumni Leadership Assembly, and provides administrative support for SoloSeniors.
Manage all Chapter and Clubs
The Office of Alumni Relations supports UGA Alumni Association chapters and clubs nation- and worldwide. A chapter is defined as a group consisting of more than 1,000 members. A club is defined as a group consisting of less than 1,000 members. Chapters and clubs are established in areas that have been identified as vital and in areas where graduates have requested to have an organization. Chapters and clubs conduct several events year-round, including game-watching parties, service projects, and Bulldogs After Hours social gatherings. Regional programs keep close communication with all of the chapter or club presidents via email and phone calls, help plan/market/promote their events, see that any assistance they need is provided, conduct ongoing market research regarding regional areas, and provide demographic information to chapter and club presidents. Each chapter and club is given "Standards of Excellence", a guideline for success. A recognition program is in place for the chapters and clubs, including Volunteer of the Year, Chapter and Club of the Year.
Alumni Leadership Assembly
Every year, chapter and club leaders are invited back to campus for leadership training and networking activities. This weekend provides any chapter/club leaders who are able to come with a look at event ideas for their areas, what is new in Athens and at UGA, tours of new buildings, and anything else that might be beneficial to regional programs.
SoloSeniors was created to foster interaction and networking among mature single professionals. The group is made up of unmarried men and women at least 50 years of age who are members of the UGA Alumni Association. Each year a "Aging Successfully" conference is held in Athens for SoloSeniors.
Dawgs Feeding Dogs
The Dawgs Feeding Dogs campaign is an annual chapter community service project to collect and donate pet food to no-kill shelters.
Paws Across America
Paws Across America is the annual day of service for chapters and clubs. Most groups volunteer with local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, though any community service project is encouraged.
