The Legacy Endowment of the University of Georgia Foundation Trustees was established by the 2006 Board of Trustees to assure their commitment to the University of Georgia is preserved in perpetuity. The fund was created to assist the University of Georgia in supporting academic initiatives as approved by the board each year.
Orginally funded solely by elected trustees, the Legacy Endowment was expanded in 2009 to include contributions from emeritus trustees.
After providing awards for a variety of needs across campus, the Board of Trustees voted in 2012 to designate the Legacy Endowment for exclusive support of the university’s Washington, DC program.
As of 2014, the endowment’s balance stood at approximately $700,000.
