Warnell was founded in 1906, and to celebrate we are challenging the Warnell family to give a gift for each year we’ve worked together to offer the best natural resources education in the South.

Our goal is 110 gifts for 110 years – in 24 hours.

One gift from you of any amount will help us do that — even small gifts add up to BIG impacts.

Why this project matters:

Birthday gifts to the Forestry Fund will support scholarships, graduate research, faculty awards, travel grants, and more. Thanks to YOU, we can look forward to 110 more years of academic excellence! Help us reach our goal by making a gift of any size by Nov. 29, 2017.

Your gifts support experiences for students like:

Area of study: Forest Business

“Receiving the Earl D. and Wanda Taylor Barrs Entrepreneur and Leadership Scholarship helped fund my travel with a forester to gain industry experience. I am very honored and thankful to have received this scholarship. Being a Warnell student offers the unique opportunity to discuss the forest industry with my experienced classmates. I seem to learn the most from them.”

Post-graduation plans: “I’ll be helping Winfield Conservation Services doing conservation easements, and I’ll be helping a local consulting forester and realtor, David Francis (Francis Forestry Services and Properties). I’ll remain an independent contractor for both, allowing me to gain experience in each interest.”

Area of study: Forestry, Wildlife Science

“Throughout my college career, scholarships have given me the freedom to pursue my degrees without financial burden. Apart from my own personal gain, I have seen some of my peers excel in their programs when they would have otherwise not been able to attend this university at all. That alone, is a testament to the importance of the generosity of donors.”

Post-graduation plans: “I would love to be able to reconnect our more urban areas to their natural resources, especially trees. I feel as though buildings are overtaking our green space, and I believe it is important that we keep our natural resources close, even in the bustling areas of the cities. I would love to give back to communities and help them to maintain green spaces amidst development.”

verticalthumbnail_jonathon_pritchard%5b3%5d   Jonathon Pritchard (BSFR ’17)

Area of study: Fisheries and Wildlife, emphasis in Aquatic Science

“After eight years of service in the United States Marine Corps, I turned my sights on a career in natural resources management and conservation. Donor contributions to the Forestry Alumni Scholarship have directly influenced my ability to continue the daunting task of graduating with a degree and my sanity. A wife, two kids, two jobs, and full class load would be enough to make anyone rethink their career goals, but the generosity from donors has made my load much more bearable. ”

Post-graduation plans: “I hope to work for a state or federal agency as a fisheries biologist. My success would not be possible without the support of people like you.”

How will your gift make a difference?

110 gifts of:

  • $5 can send one student to a national conference
  • $10 can provide 27 students with a new compass
  • $25 can provide two freshman scholarships
  • $30 can pay for a graduate student’s annual fees
  • $50 can provide five faculty awards

Whether your gift equals the cost of a $5 footlong or a YETI Rambler tumbler, your donation matters. YOUR support makes a difference!
