What is the Office of Business Engagement?
Corporations no longer consider themselves “donors” to academia, rather, they are “investors,” and a growing trend in the Georgia business community is that companies are viewing universities as “partnership” relationships. Our Business Engagement strategies will be developing a return on their investment, or turning these partnerships into funding mechanisms.
What does UGA offer in these partnerships?
We want to provide strategic benefits such as workforce development & future employees; sponsored research; new technologies; employee training; Executive education; economic development; public service and outreach.
Why/when should I involve OBE?
Our university brand is strong and globally-known, and the Office of Business Engagement has an opportunity to leverage companies’ interest and needs in associating themselves with UGA. The development of university-wide packaging and custom bundle investments will be critical work with all development offices as well as an opportunity to make UGA unique and different from other universities (or at least put UGA into consideration in cases where we don’t hold current partnerships). Think of OBE when working with investors in order to add programing to larger proposals going forward from Central.
