The DARing to Level Up Awards recognize staff members from the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) who go above and beyond to make exceptional contributions to our division. They embody the DAR pillars of leadership, collaboration and impact and are presented annually at the Spring DAR Town Hall meeting.
The Pillars
Just as the Arch could not stand without its pillars, our division goals cannot be achieved without three core concepts that create a strong foundation for success. The Pillars are principles that inform the work of each DAR staff member, alumni leader and volunteer.
Leadership
Leveraging our individual strengths for a collective effort produces far greater results than working alone. We are all one UGA, so we will work as one UGA – our success depends on it.
Collaboration
Leveraging our individual strengths for a collective effort produces far greater results than working alone. We are all one UGA, so we will work as one UGA – our success depends on it.
Impact
What we do matters. Our work can get a student into their dream school, it can fuel discoveries that save lives, it can empower entire communities. The ability to create a better future for Georgia, for generations, is at the heart of all we do.
The steps leading to the Arch transform it from a landmark into a tradition. It takes a small action to traverse each step, but each one brings you closer to the goal. Our Steps are practices that inform the decisions we make each day – they are the actions that bring our Pillars to life and, eventually, take us across the threshold of our goal. Nominations + Eligibility
All DAR employees are invited to submit nominations to recognize the outstanding efforts by a fellow DAR colleague who has been employed at least six months in the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, including schools, colleges and units.
Nominations must be submitted through the official Level Up Award nomination form online. They should be 300 words or less, and outline the nominee’s unwavering commitment to leadership, collaboration or impact.
Feedback from peers is often more meaningful than from managers. Appreciation exchanged between coworkers demonstrates the positive effect staff have on the workplace and on each other. These awards are designed for employees to recognize each other for going above and beyond as we DARe to Level Up each day.
2025 Awards: Nominations will cover the time frame of July 1, 2024 through February 5, 2025. They were due by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Selection Committee
The selection process will be handled by a selection committee that includes representatives from a variety of DAR teams, including UGA schools, colleges, and units.
The committee will conduct the selection process in a confidential manner to protect its integrity.
Nominators must identify the specific pillar for which their nominee will be assessed. Each nomination will be evaluated based on leadership, collaboration, or impact. Up to two awards per pillar will be presented each year.
Please note that nomination scoring is directly related to the strength of the nomination.
