What: Dawg Day of Gratitude 2023
When: Thursday, April 13, 2023 | 9 am – 1 pm
Where: Tate Plaza
Why: Educating students on the importance of private giving to the University of Georgia
Who: UGA students, and stewardship professionals from across campus
Overview
At this campus-wide event, formerly known as Thank A Donor Day, people gather to show gratitude to UGA’s generous donors. All students are welcome to participate!
Once a student arrives at Tate Plaza they register with staff and are given a card with spaces representing the three activity stations. When they complete an activity, a sticker is placed on the corresponding space on their card, and they may turn in a completed card (e.g., with three stickers) to receive the prizes (listed below).
The stations are:
- Write a thank-you note to a donor
- Follow the UGA Alumni or UGA SAC social media accounts
- Create a poster with a message of gratitude and pose with it at the photo booth
Satellite Locations
This year, we are expanding the footprint of this event to other areas of campus via satellite locations. Students may complete the letter-writing activity at these stations and receive the task-tracking card and corresponding sticker to indicate they completed the letter-writing activity, and may then continue on to Tate Plaza for the other two activities.
Prizes for Students
These are the prizes awarded to students for completing all three activity stations:
Sticker Sheet
Koozie
T-shirt
Marketing Plan Overview
The singular goal across the university for Dawg Day of Gratitude is to get students participating in the event in Tate Plaza! To help you share the event with your student audience, we’ve outlined our marketing plan below so you can plan complimentary efforts. Please contact Zach Armstrong with any questions.
Email Communications to Students
The DAR Communications office will send an email to students on Wednesday, April 12, encouraging them to attend the event the next day.
The SAC Newsletter on April 4 will promote the event.
Environmental Marketing
We are promoting the event and encouraging students to attend across UGA busses, posters in strategic places across campus, and the indoor digital screens run by our many campus partners.
Social Media Presence
Keep an eye on the @UniversityofGA and @UGAAlumni accounts (especially Instagram) for posts covering the event on the day of. If you post about the day, please tag both of those accounts so the staff covering the day see and may share your posts on their channels.
One of the best things you can do is post to your student-facing social media channels about the event ahead of the day!
Social Media Copy
The following posts can be used as-is, or customized to fit your account’s voice. Remember, the social media accounts of specific schools, colleges, and units across UGA are a powerful way of reaching your specific audience, and the more places students see the event information, the more likely they are to attend.
