How do I become a member of the UGA Alumni Association?

Graduates are automatically considered “members” of the UGA Alumni Association and no dues are required.

I am not a UGA graduate, but I want to be involved with UGA Alumni Association activities. Does the UGA Alumni Association offer affiliate memberships?

We do not offer memberships to non-graduates at this time. In lieu of memberships, we encourage individuals to make regular donations to the Georgia Fund in support of student scholarships at UGA. Georgia Fund donors are frequently invited to UGA Alumni Association events and receive many of the same communication pieces as degreed alumni.

What are the benefits of being involved with the UGA Alumni Association?

Connecting with the university and networking with fellow alumni is a primary benefit of UGA Alumni Association involvement. The UGA Alumni Association serves UGA’s nearly 300,000 living alumni to help them stay involved with their alma mater through a variety of programs, events, and services.

I am a life member. What happened to my membership?

Life members retain their distinction as an exclusive group within the UGA Alumni Association and are afforded special status with opportunities for greater involvement in UGA and Association activities. Call (706) 542-2251 for more information.

Can I still become a life member?

No. At this time, life memberships are reserved for those who committed before July 1, 2010.

How can I get an official membership card?

We no longer issue membership cards or replacement cards. Every graduate is officially considered a member of the UGA Alumni Association; however, you can obtain an alumni identification card from UGA Card Services in the Tate Student Center.

I’ve moved – how do I find out about local UGA events?

First, visit alumni.uga.edu/myinfo and ensure that the university has your updated contact information. Please note that email communications depend on your preferred primary mailing address. If you have questions about your alumni record, please call 706-542-2251 to speak with a UGA Alumni Association representative.

After you have confirmed that your contact information is updated, visit alumni.uga.edu/chapters to locate your local alumni chapter. If the chapter is hosting events, they will be listed on the chapter web page. Don’t forget to connect with your local chapter on Facebook!

Why do I not receive email or mail from UGA?

The most likely reason for this is that your information is not up-to-date with the university. Visit alumni.uga.edu/myinfo to provide UGA with your most current contact information.

How can I obtain borrowing privileges from the UGA libraries on campus?

Although we no longer issue membership cards to our alumni, you can obtain an alumni identification card from the UGA Card Services located on the third floor of the Tate Student Center. You can then use it at UGA Libraries, as well as the UGA Bookstore, Ramsey Center, Legion Pool, and many stores and businesses around town for discounts. If you do not wish to purchase an alumni card, please contact us about obtaining an alumni status verification letter.

How should I go about setting up a meeting with a chapter leader?

When are 40 Under 40 and Bulldog 100?

You can find out more about 40 Under 40 and Bulldog 100, including the event dates, on the alumni website.

Can parents come to Freshman Welcome?

No. Freshman Welcome is intended to strengthen class identity among new students starting their time at UGA!

When is Freshman Welcome?

The night before the first day of classes during the Fall Semester.

I am a student. What opportunities are available for me?

Students have an opportunity to get involved with the UGA Alumni Association while still enrolled at UGA. Students are encouraged to join the Student Alumni Association and seniors are encouraged to make a Senior Signature gift of $50. Email Hilary Hilgers for more information.

How can I serve on the Student Alumni Council?

Student Alumni Council recruitment occurs on a yearly basis. Applications typically opens October 1 and closes by October 31. The recruitment process involves a written application, a group interview, and if selected, an individual interview. Learn more about SAC here.

How do I purchase a class ring?

Students have two options: in person or online.

Online: https://www.balfour.com/uga.
In person: Students have two opportunities to purchase class rings in person throughout the academic year: Fall Ring Week (September) and Spring Ring Week (February). Students can visit the UGA Alumni Association Main Office (1 Press Place, Athens, GA) to view ring styles and get their ring size. The UGA Alumni Association is open Monday- Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

When will I receive my ring?

UGA Rings are distributed each April in time for students to wear the ring at May commencement. Specific details for regarding ring distributions will be sent to those students who have purchased a ring.

I am graduating in December. When do I sign up for Senior Signature?

March 31^st of the calendar year you graduate.

Where does my $30 gift for Senior Signature go?

$10 goes to the Class Gift, an initiative supporting student led projects on campus, and the remaining $20 is given to an area on campus that you are passionate about. Simply select the area of your choosing in the “Additional Gift Designation” section.

When is the deadline for Senior Signature?

March 31^st of every year.

When will the Senior Signature Plaque be hung?

The end of spring, before Commencement, every year.

If you aren’t an undergraduate student, can you still make a gift to Senior Signature?

Yes! Senior Signature is open to all graduating students at UGA, regardless of degree or campus. If you graduated and did not previously make a gift, but would like to, email us.
