Naming Opportunity Request Guidance

Naming a place or academic unit at the University of Georgia is a significant fundraising opportunity. Namings authorized without associated philanthropy shall be the exception.

This form is for the benefit of the University of Georgia and the Office of Finance and Administration.

Notification

The Office of Development shall be notified when a naming opportunity or name removal is proposed.

Required Information

Requests should include donor and honoree information, the area of interest, proposed stipulations, and gift payment details.

Review & Approval

Proposed namings are reviewed by Development and Alumni Relations, University leadership, and the University Cabinet. Certain namings also require Board of Regents approval.

Gift Requirements

Deferred gifts should not be used for current naming requests. For gifts paid over time, at least one-half of the total gift must be received before a naming request is presented.
