November ’24 DAR Star: Pansy V. Bond
We work with absolutely incredible people — and we all have varied interests and experiences, which adds to the unique makeup of the University of Georgia. We’ll be regularly spotlighting a few rock stars from around the division so that even if you don’t cross paths with them in the break room or Zoom with them on a weekly basis, you can get to know colleagues who can enhance your work life and productivity.
Without further ado, please enjoy our Q&A with Pansy …

I oversee accounting, reporting, and financial monitoring for the assigned departments, serving as the liaison between these departments, the central finance office, and UGA’s central operating offices.
-
I collaborate with the departments to recommend and submit budget modifications as needed.
-
I am responsible for tracking and clearing required accounting entries, as well as resolving any outstanding payables, prepaid expenses, and open encumbrances for the assigned departments.
What is your favorite reason for working for UGA/DAR? Having the collaboration of team members and being able to ask questions related to the job. I have a rapport in building relationships within the DAR community as well as outside of DAR.
What is a work project you’ve been most proud of participating in? When I was promoted to DAR Finance, we centralized the budget process as COVID hit, and I learned the job while working from home.
What is your favorite spot in Athens to grab lunch? Gyro Wrap, the steak one with the feta curly fries.
On a typical Saturday evening, you can find me… Maybe cleaning the house, reading, playing with the girls or watching UGA football.
A song that really pumps me up is… I Love Rock ’n’ Roll
Something you might not know about me is… I am a passionate person, making friends and leaving a lasting impression on everyone I meet.
My dream vacation (cost and time aside) would be… Flying to Hawaii, seeing the islands, and relaxing.
Tell us about your family! I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 45 years as of November 17. We have two children: our daughter Robyn and son Nathan. I also have two beautiful granddaughters, Maisy, 6, and Winnie, 4. They are so precious, and it’s true that becoming a grandparent brings a different kind of love.
We hope you learned something new about Pansy. We are lucky to have her on our DAR team! Feel free to reach out to her to catch up on the latest episode of 911 or plan your next Hawaii vacation.
