August ’24 DAR Star: Evan Christian
We work with absolutely incredible people—and we all have varied interests and experiences, which adds to the unique makeup of the University of Georgia. We’ll be regularly spotlighting a few rock stars from around the division so that even if you don’t cross paths with them in the break room or Zoom with them on a weekly basis, you can get to know colleagues who can enhance your work life and productivity.
Without further ado, please enjoy our Q&A with Evan Christian …
Name: Evan Christian
Title: Annual Giving Coordinator
-
My job is to help grow donors and dollars for the University of Georgia as a whole. I work on digital media campaigns with specific schools and colleges, as well as UGA’s central efforts, such as Dawg Day of Giving. Most recently, I am heading UGA’s central recurring giving program, Always A Dawg!
Where can we find you?
- Online: ude.agu@naitsirhce
- On Campus: 1 Press Place
- At Home: Flowery Branch, Georgia
Time in DAR: 1.5 years!
What are 3 things you wish others in DAR knew about your job?
- Collaboration! Annual Giving is an extended arm to all the schools and colleges on campus, so our success is your success.
- Dawg Day of Giving is a well oiled machine. Ask anyone on the Annual Giving team about the “war room” that day.
- A lot of my work involves getting young alumni engaged, so if that is ever a focus, I am happy to talk strategy on that with you!
Outside of work, I’m passionate about… traveling, whenever I have a chance, I love seeing other spots of the world and what makes it so unique.
What is your favorite meal to have at lunch? Raising Canes – Caniac Combo with extra toast instead of coleslaw. Every time.
What is a work project you’ve been most proud of participating in? For me, Beat Week is always a fun way to get everyone involved, and friendly competition with other schools keeps things interesting around that time of year.
Something you might not know about me is… I’m a big movie nerd, I have a top 100 favorite movie list on the app Letterboxd and will find any excuse to talk about it!
What is your favorite reason for working for DAR? Being able to partner with a variety of schools and colleges on campus help make each day different, and it is very fulfilling being able to use my digital media knowledge for all these funds that all make such a difference on and around the campus.
Lately, I’ve been watching… The Bear. I can’t cook at all, but I enjoy watching other people do it.
We hope you learned something new about Evan. We are lucky to have him on our DAR team! Feel free to reach out to him if you would like to grab a Caniac combo or chat about the latest season of The Bear.
