July ’24 DAR Star: Shearron Hamlin

We work with absolutely incredible people—and we all have varied interests and experiences, which adds to the unique makeup of the University of Georgia. We’ll be regularly spotlighting a few rock stars from around the division so that even if you don’t cross paths with them in the break room or Zoom with them on a weekly basis, you can get to know colleagues who can enhance your work life and productivity.

  • I help thank our incredible UGA donors! In my role I am involved in presidential briefings and acknowledgements, our Cumulative Giving Societies memberships, football SkySuites and briefings, the DR&S budget, our fabulous events and more!

Time in DAR: 6.5 years!

Where did you grow up: Watkinsville, Georgia

What is your favorite reason for working for UGA/DAR? The people! We get to work and collaborate with some of the most passionate people!

What is your favorite spot in Athens to grab lunch? South Kitchen or Taqueria Tsunami (but really probably the downtown Chick-fil-A).

Outside of work, I’m passionate about… Spending time with family and friends, attempting to keep our plants alive, watching trashy TV shows and traveling!

Lately I’ve been watching… All things Bravo… and the Gilded Age!

What is your No. 1 tip for someone just joining DAR? Get out and meet the people of DAR! There are so many wonderful built-in resources that we work with every day – take advantage of your colleagues!

Tell us about your family! I am married to my talented, carpenter husband, Craig. Together, we have bought and renovated two homes in the past 9 years! We have two rambunctious (but precious!) little boys, Charlie (4) and Benjamin (3), and love to spend our Saturday mornings perusing the aisles of Costco searching for samples!

On a typical Saturday evening you can find me… If the weather’s nice, you’ll find us grilling on the back deck and watching the boys play in the yard. Otherwise, we’re probably snuggled up on the couch watching The Lion King or Spidey!
