Introducing the Philanthropy at Work Society

Thank a Donor Day
by Melissa Lee

Faculty, Staff, and Retiree Donor Appreciation Reception. Since 2014, Donor Relations used these seven words to describe one very creative reception held each fall. As you might have noticed, the name is a mouthful of very descriptive, yet uninspiring words. Each year at our retreat we discussed that we needed to give an exciting name to this event to match the fun themes that drive it. Then, we realized: why not give our faculty, staff, and retiree donors a recognized, branded annual giving society? By reframing what has already been successful stewardship, we will bring a stronger community and recognition to our most loyal Bulldogs with the new Philanthropy at Work Society.

Philanthropy at Work Society

Beginning July 1, 2019, faculty, staff, and retirees who give at any level each year will be stewarded through the annual PAW Society. Upon the first gift of the fiscal year, donors will receive an email that includes a special message from our Student Government Association President, as they have previously. In addition, this gift will be acknowledged by a PAW Society mailing delivered to the donor’s campus address (retirees will receive their acknowledgment at home).

Our annual reception held each August will continue to recognize faculty, staff, and retirees who gave within the previous fiscal year.  But now, this has a much snappier name: PAWS Reception!

Donor Relations is excited to bring a higher level of stewardship to our fellow working Dawgs who go above and beyond in their commitment to UGA each year. This new society is reflected on the giving website, and we encourage everyone to remember this when fundraising and stewarding your donors within our schools, colleges, and units!
