July ’23 DAR Star: Mason Black
We work with absolutely incredible people—and we all have varied interests and experiences, which adds to the unique makeup of the University of Georgia. We’ll be regularly spotlighting a few rock stars from around the division so that even if you don’t cross paths with them in the break room or Zoom with them on a weekly basis, you can get to know colleagues who can enhance your work life and productivity.

Name: Mason Black
Title: Associate Director of Alumni Chapters
- I recruit, train and coach volunteers to serve as Alumni Chapter Leaders. I help them plan and execute events for their local communities to keep former and future bulldogs connected to UGA.

Time in DAR: 1.5 years, but have been with UGA for 6
Where did you grow up: Summerville, Georgia
What is your favorite reason for working for UGA/DAR? I enjoy interacting and engaging with others who are just as passionate about UGA as I am!
Work project you’ve been most proud participating in: UGA-themed float in the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade!
What is your favorite spot in Athens to grab lunch? Tamez Barbecue: the brisket plat with slaw and extra bread, banana pudding for dessert
Outside of work, I’m passionate about … Golf, the outdoors (particularly the mountains)
Favorite podcast: The Glass Cannon Podcast!
Lately, I’ve been watching … Peaky Blinders, for no less than the 4th time
A song that really pumps me up is … “Come on Eileen”
Something you might not know about me is … I am an only child.
My dream vacation (cost and time aside) is to visit … Edinburgh, Scotland
